As Americans for Tax Reform marks forty years of leadership, we invite you to celebrate the birthday of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge with us!

In 1986, Grover Norquist founder of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), created the Taxpayer Protection Pledge at the request of President Ronald Reagan.

Their shared mission, the passage of the Tax Reform Act of 1986, led to one of the most sweeping overhauls of the U.S. tax code in modern history. Our work has shaped national policy, built lasting coalitions, and strengthened a connected, international movement for economic freedom.

Through our flagship program, the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) and the Tholos Foundation have defended taxpayers and advanced the principles of limited government, free enterprise, and individual liberty.

About the Gala

Please join us on Tuesday, December 1, 2026, for the ATR 40th Anniversary Gala, a black-tie evening at the iconic National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. We plan to welcome supporters, coalition partners, and policy leaders for an unforgettable evening recognizing four decades of achievement and the people who made it possible.

Guests will enjoy a reception, formal dinner, keynote remarks, special tributes, and a multimedia presentation highlighting the accomplishments of Grover Norquist, Americans for Tax Reform, and Tholos Foundation.
